There are plenty of jobs for people with engineering qualifications, from technician level to chartered level. It’s also possible to work your way up by continuing to learn. I started off as an apprentice and went to university later on (twice)

There are definitely lots of engineering jobs out there. There’s actually a shortage of engineers in the UK so you’d be in demand if you decided it was for you!

The level of higher education needed would depend on what route you took to becoming an engineer – ie. apprenticeship or graduate entry.

there are plenty of jobs and if you are a hard worker and come across as such in an interview, then there is no reason for someone to not hire you over a oxford/Cambridge graduate if you are more suitable.
