      There is no single answer to that. There are different engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical for example), but there are lots of different roles within each of those. A good place to find out more is a website called Plotr

      engineering is so vague I could list the ones I know (which john has already done so) but I’m sure there is more I haven’t heard of. Satellite subsystems engineering is one I specialized in at university.
